While in New York City pre-Westminster, I had the chance to talk to Jerry Gymek, Doggie Concierge for Hotel Pennsylvania at their dog spa. I prepped him on some questions that I would ask during our Hangout On Air.
One of those was about some of the most out-of-the-box requests that some of the show dog owners might have to make sure their dogs are in tip-top shape in time for the show. You definitely need to watch. About half way through we get to this subject.
One story that he shared with us was that a Spinone Italiano dog was staying at Hotel Pennsylvania, which is the host hotel for Westminster given its size, amenities, and proximity to Madison Square Garden.
This dog apparently performs best after hearing opera… he is of Italian heritage, of course. So, as the Doggie Concierge, Jerry found an opera singer to come into the hotel and serenade the dog. They staged this in the hotel lobby so that everyone could enjoy.
And, here you get to see EXCLUSIVE photos of the event thanks to Jerry Grymek, Doggie Concierge.
The first is of the dog himself. Isn’t he looking so dapper in that top hat? Of course, he dressed up in the proper tuxedo attire for the event.
The second photo is of the dog listening so very intently to the opera singer. You can tell that he has a true appreciation for what is being sung. His full focus is on the opera singer.
And, last, is my favorite photo of all. The opera singer and the Italian Spinone are locked eyeball-to-eyeball with each other as she serenades him in a way that closes out the entire rest of the world. It’s as if these two are locked in a moment in time together sharing a heartfelt melody.
Remember, you saw it here first. Bringing you only the most pet fashionable news.
